AKA GMP qualified vendors, explained

Updated October 2026

The short answer

The American Kratom Association (AKA) publishes a list of vendors it calls GMP Qualified Vendors. When we checked it on Oct 7, 2026, 14 of the 17 brands we review were on it. We take a brand's status from the AKA's own list, not from the brand's site.

21+ only. Kratom is not approved by the FDA for any medical use, and nothing here is medical advice.

How to check a brand yourself

Open the AKA's GMP Qualified Vendors page and look for the brand's name; it pages through vendors one at a time, so search the page or step through it.

A brand's own GMP wording isn't the same as being on the list: Kratom Country describes GMP or AKA participation on its site but wasn't on the AKA's list when we checked.

What the listing doesn't tell you

It isn't an FDA approval: the FDA says kratom isn't lawfully marketed as a drug, dietary supplement or food additive.

The 42 AKA GMP-qualified vendor sites averaged 32.72 out of 75 on DISCERN (Hill 2023).

36 of 42 sites gave little reference to sources for their claims (Hill 2023).

That's why our scores weigh a brand's own published lab reports more heavily (35 points) than its AKA status (20 points).

Common questions

What is AKA GMP?

The American Kratom Association publishes a list of vendors it calls GMP Qualified Vendors. We record a brand as listed only when it appears on that list.

How many kratom brands are AKA GMP qualified?

Of the 17 brands we review, 14 were on the AKA's list when we checked on Oct 7, 2026.

Does AKA GMP mean the FDA approved it?

No. The FDA says kratom isn't lawfully marketed as a drug, dietary supplement or food additive; the AKA list is the trade association's own program.
